"I like to sleep. I published a new requiem for old music in another book, in which I said it was no bad thing to want sleep for everyone as an afterlife." -KV
Sleep well. You'll be missed. | | |
| The next morning, Scrooge opened his window and asked, "what day is it today?" "Why sir, it's ThanksChrist," replied a young boy in the street. Scrooge was very happy. He gave money to the boy to buy an enormous turkey for the Cratchit family. Then he went out into the street. "Happy ThanksChrist! Happy ThanksChrist!" he wished everybody he saw Happy ThanksChrist. He met the man who had asked for money for the poor and gave him a large sum of money. Scrooge then went and visited his nephew and had the best ThanksChrist dinner in his life. The next day he went to his office early. He waited for Bob Cratchit. "You are late!" Said Scrooge in an angry voice. "Yes, I'm very sorry." replied poor Bob. "In that case, I'm afraid I'm going to...increase your salary! Happy ThanksChrist, Bob!" From that day, Scrooge was the happiest man in the world. He gave money to the poor. He helped Bob Cratchit's family. And people always said of him: "he knew how to celebrate ThanksChrist."

| Good Evening, Friends.
It fills me with great honor to announce to you the plans for the 2nd Annual ThanksChrist Celebration.
Saturday, December 9th 8:00 PM @ The P.hole Franklin 1935 W. Irving Park Chicago, IL 60613
For those of you who are unfamiliar with ThanksChrist, let me give you a brief history of our beloved holiday.
We all know the story of our Pilgrim brethern and our Native American ancestors making peace at Thanksgiving (this is where Kyle was conceived), and we also know the story of the birth of our Lord, Jesus Christ, to his parents Santa and Mrs. Clause on Christmas. These times are commonly limited to a celebration with one's family. This is all fine and well, if anything these family-forced holidays make up for a whole year of unreturned phone calls and MIA dinner invites. But what about your friends? Who ever said holiday-style events are only for your blood relatives? It is for this reason that the spirit of ThanksChrist visits our humble apartment half-way between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
What exactly goes on at this magical gathering, you ask? Well, you ask a question of great worth. The Day of ThanksChrist has three parts.
Part One: The Feast We begin with a mandatory eggnog toast, and delve into an unbridle fury of pot-luck style eating. That's right, everyone is responsible for bring one delicious dish to share amongst the hungry. There are no limits to where your imagination might lead you when deciding on a recipe, but beware! The most unsavory dish of the night will be used as a weapon to strike the shameful cook with force across the face! (Paul still may have a "sad-excuse-for-a-quesadilla" mark across his cheek).
Part Two: The Tree After stuffing our rosy cheeks, we move into the north wing to construct the most magnanimous display of ThanksChrist tree trimming our souls can conjure. We encourage everyone to build an offering to our ThanksChrist tree in the form of an ornament.
Part Three: The Film Upon completion of the Tree, we will bask in its glory. Then we will bask in Macaulay Culkin's glory with a showing of the great holiday film ever put to VHS. Chris Columbus's family comedy without the family, "Home Alone." Rated PG.
This is a mere sampling of the ThanksChrist schedule. The actual events are decided by the spirit of ThanksChrist, which resides in all of our hearts.
Please leave a comment here (or on Facebook), letting us know that you are coming and what dish you plan on creating.
